THE TRAVELLING EMBASSY OF ROCKALL / THE MAZE with HULDUFUGL

The Maze of Yggdrasil was open between 20th of August (Culture Night) until the 20th of September 2016. The maze was built by Huldufugl and housed a number of installations by Huldufugl and collaborating artists.

Approximately 3000 visitors came to the maze over the course of one month, including more than 1500 people that came on opening day.

It took about 5 weeks to build (only during evenings and weekends), was about 370 square meters, consisted of about 250 pallets and 4000 screws and had 16 different rooms/hallways with various installations.

A number of concerts were held inside the maze, as well as a cinema screening, a couple of hula hoop performances, a coffee and tea ceremony, free pancakes were made and an improvised dance and choir piece took place in it.

The theme of the maze was the nordic religion, with the tree of life, Yggdrasil, rising from its middle. Each room also had an audio installation and a couple of interactive light and sound installations were a part of the maze.
